Title : Challenges and barriers in addiction treatment: Overcoming obstacles to access and care
Abstract:
Addiction treatment, while essential for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, is often a barrier that hinder access to care. It also starts from well I don’t think I’ve a problem. These challenges can arise from personal, societal, and systemic factors that limit effective treatment delivery and outcomes. The oral presentation would explore the key obstacles individuals face when seeking addiction treatment, including stigmatization, limited access to resources, financial constraints, and the lack of trained professionals in many regions. Additionally, the presentation will highlight how these barriers contribute to treatment delays, underutilization of services, and poor long-term outcomes for individuals in recovery. Drawing from both clinical and community perspectives, the discussion will also emphasize the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to addiction care that involves mental health professionals, healthcare systems, and social services. By addressing these obstacles comprehensively, we can improve access to care, enhance the effectiveness of addiction treatment, and ultimately support individuals on their recovery journey.
