Title : Concomitants of spirituality in addiction recovery and rehabilitation—towards developing a positive psychology intervention
Abstract:
The process of recovering from addiction is complicated and multidimensional, involving psychological, social, and spiritual aspects in addition to physical detoxification. Spirituality has emerged as an important factor in building resilience, promoting well-being, and ensuring long-term recovery. This paper explores the concomitant of spirituality in addiction rehabilitation, highlighting its impact on mental health, coping mechanisms, and overall life satisfaction. The conceptual framework of the intervention will be formulated using the scoping review method for existing literature. The objective of the research is to propose structured interventions that incorporate spiritual practices and dispositions such as love and kindness meditation, gratitude journaling, faith-based interventions, and compassionate-based goal-setting techniques into addiction treatment programs based on positive psychology perspectives. The implications of the study is to empower people in recovery by cultivating self-efficacy, inner peace, and a sense of connectedness.
