It is an antidepressant that is a member of the class of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Its liver breaks it down, and 94–95 per cent of it binds to proteins. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication. It is used to treat depression as well as other mental health conditions including panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. These include compulsions to engage in undesired thoughts and repetitive behaviours as well as anxious feelings and fast breathing and heart rate. This drug works by increasing the levels of a chemical substance in your brain, which helps to stabilise your mood and sense of well-being. Fluoxetine may cause common side effects such as headaches, nausea, lack of appetite, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, fatigue, and excessive sweating. It is used to treat a variety of diseases, including bulimia, depression, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a severe type of premenstrual syndrome. This medication assists patients in returning to their regular routines by improving sleep, mood, appetite, and energy levels while lowering anxiety, unpleasant thoughts, fear, and panic attacks.
